CHAPTER 6

Tiffin session of three roses

The three girls washed their faces and did makeup. They brought out chairs and put them in the middle of the compound. Then they went into their houses and brought tiffin. They started eating with their eyes glued to the new house.

Kotari observed all this from his house and was shocked. Immediately he entered Prutvi’s house. Arvind and Prutvi were setting the luggage on the shelves.

Kotari said seriously, “Till I say so, you are not to go out of the house.”

The boys were surprised. They stopped unpacking and stared at Kotari.

Prutvi asked, “Why, uncle?”

Kotari was serious. “Three danger lights are shining in the compound.”

Immediately Arvind showed his little finger. “Urgent pass, uncle. I will close my eyes and go.”

Kotari was shocked. The toilet was outside the house. He was sure that Arvind was giving excuse to go out. “Don’t play these games with me. I will give you one bottle.”

He took up a bottle which was lying nearby and gave it to him. “Do it in this. But if you came out, just see.”

He went out seriously and closed the door behind him.

Arvind winked at Prutvi. Prutvi smiled.

Kotari approached the girls. “What is all this? Why are you all decked up and having tiffin outside today?”

They laughed. They were used to teasing Kotari.

Sridevi went into the house and brought one more chair and a flask. “Uncle, come and join us. Strong coffee is also ready.”

She showed the flask.

Kotari took the coffee. His strictness melted on seeing coffee. “Sridevi, you know my weakness very well. You show coffee and cool me down.”

Sridevi looked at Prutvi’s house. “Uncle, looks like you have given the house on rent to somebody?”

Kotari continued to drink seriously.

Lavanya asked, “Uncle, is it a family like ours or bachelors?”

Kotari looked at them seriously. “Why are you so curious?”

Mayuri looked at the house curiously. “Looks like nobody is there. Even the door is closed.”

Sridevi said, “Looks like there are no ladies. I am sure they are students.”

Kotari looked at the house. He thought, “The door is closed. But the window is shaking. Something is going on.”

He went silently to the house and opened the door. He saw both of the boys peeping through a crack in the window. Kotari went slowly and slapped them on their buttocks. Both of them immediately turned around.

Kotari asked, “So you both have already started your tricks?”

Prutvi was surprised and opened the window fully. He put his hand at his eyebrows and looked outside. Then he looked at Kotari. “You know what we were looking at till now? We saw you sitting alone out there talking to yourself and we were surprised.”

Kotari became serious.

Arvind moved Kotari’s face to one side with his hands. “Uncle, you talk to yourself so nicely. Are you used to doing that?”

Kotari bit his teeth.  “Don’t play these games with me. When I was of your age, I too used to do like that. But after my marriage to Danalakshmi, everything changed. No more games.”

He looked at them seriously. “If I see you doing this again, I will show you the gate pass.”

He went out closing the door behind him.

Sridevi said, “Uncle, the flask is still half full, came and have some more coffee.”

Kotari thought, “This girl knows my weakness very well.”

He said, “Coffee please.”

He sat down and looked at their faces. All three were staring at Prutvi’s house.

“Are you going to have your dinner session also out here in the compound?”

 

Lavanya put her hands on her chest. “How nicely you have guessed our plans.”

She pinched his cheeks. “Thank you, uncle.”

Suddenly Srilaxmi came out and saw Kotari. “Uncle, Danalakshmi aunty is not here but looks like you have given the house on rent by yourself. Who are they?”

Kotari became serious and talked like as if he was saying something great.

“They are VIPs.”

Lavanya said, “Uncle, don’t tell lies. To us they look like college students. I will find out in 2 days to which college they belong.”

Kotari was worried to see the daring nature of the girls. He felt helpless. How to control the girls? He thought, “None of these will listen to me. I will have to control the boys otherwise I don’t know what will happen.”
