49. College building gets rebuilt

CHAPTER 49
College building gets rebuilt

Prutvi was sitting with engineers. “You are famous engineers in this city. You know why I called you?”

Engineer said, “Tell us sir.”

“That 100 years old college building has fallen down. Tomorrow, you must go and plan how much it will cost to rebuild it beautifully. The college should be ready in 3 months. I will give you the amount immediately.”

Engineer nodded. “Yes sir.”

Prutvi said, “One thing. No one should know that I had given the money. Keep everything a secret.”

**********************************************************

Many people had come to attend the opening ceremony of the new college building. Minister had come to cut the ribbon. Function started in the college auditorium.

Principal said happily, “Today is a memorable day for me. When the building fell down due to heavy rain, we had decided to close the diploma classes. But Chandini and other students collected a lot of money from businessmen. But some unknown person gave the whole amount and rebuilt the building so beautifully. I am much grateful to the person. But the seedling was put by Chandini and her group”

Chandini said, “If we are able to see this building it is all because of the money great people who are sitting here have donated. I want to thank you all. At the same time I want to tell you of an incident which occurred when we were collecting money from houses. We went to a big house in Sea View Colony. When we told the owner that our college building had fallen, he gave us biscuits and tea and told us that they themselves were collection kings. He asked us how come we were coming and asking them for donation.”

In a black car a bit far away, Prutvi was sitting listening to the whole thing.

Chandini said, “What a difference there is between those bloodsuckers and that man who gave so much money to rebuild this building without even revealing his name.”

The engineers who were sitting in the function smiled. Prutvi also smiled.

Chandini said, “Thanks to that great man.”

Prutvi smiled and started the car. The car moved away from the college area.
