CHAPTER 34
Chandini’s song
Chandini and Prutvi were sitting on a hill
near the beach.
Prutvi said, “Colony program is approaching.”
Chandini looked at his face. “The colony programs are
always very interesting. Youth programs, dance are the highlights. This time
you will also be there, won’t you?”
Prutvi looked into her eyes. “Sure. After all, I am
your colony man.”
Chandini became serious. “Is that all?”
He laughed and whispered in her ear. “I am your man?”
He pointed to her heart. “I am there.”
Chandini was shy. “I have written a song for the colony
function.”
Prutvi was surprised. “Do you write songs?”
“But this song came from my heart. When I sing it at
the function, I will record it and present the cassette to you.”
Prutvi put his ear to her heart. “Fantastic. I can hear
that song in your heart.”
She pushed his head away. “Stop pretending.”
Prutvi said, “Really, Chandini. Just wait. Ah! I can hear
very clearly.”
Chandini kept watching him.
Prutvi said, “The music is just starting. Slowly. The
song is opening in low sound. Ah! Now song has started.”
Chandini was surprised.
Prutvi said, “I will tell you the words. Chalia oh
chalia…..”
Chandini was shocked. She held him tight. “How did you
know this?”
“That is my specialty. Tomorrow is the function. Two
days after is …”
Chandini immediately said, “Valentine day.”
Prutvi laughed. “All young people who fall into the 12th
track remember this day very well. It is so special.”
“Yes. It is very special.”
“All those who love each other, dissolve into each
other on v-day.”
Chandini looked into his eyes lovingly. “I will
disappear. I will dissolve. Then I will be…”
“In my mind.”
Chandini thought, “I will remain in your heart.”
Prutvi stood watching the sea. She felt like hugging
him. She came from behind him. And then she stopped. She thought, “Not now. On
V-day. I will dissolve into him.”
Prutvi thought, “On the v-day, I must tell that I want
to be wit her whole my life because I love her.”
