40. Mother requests Prutvi to stay

CHAPTER 40
Mother requests Prutvi to stay

10 days go by. Prutvi completed all the Kriyas(rituals) in one village. Once he came back, he packed all his cloths and came to the hall with the suitcase. He approached his uncle who was sitting in a wheelchair in his room. Uncle looked at him. Then he called him and caressed his head. Tears arose in his eyes.

Daga said, “Don't came here again. You study hard and become a big man to help many people. I want that.”

Prutvi went near his mother in the hall. Daga was also come there. “Mummy, I am going back to my college.”
He bowed down to her. She looked at him.

Mother said, “I have no objection to you going back to your studies. But your uncle's strength is gone. Your father was his right hand. Also, he has lost his legs. He is helpless now. Who knows when the Mustan gang will attack again? We are not afraid of death. But what will happen to the ashram? I am worried about that only.”

Prutvi was shocked. He put his suitcase down again. “Mommy, what are you saying?”

“We earned all the money through Mafia. With that money, we are running the ashram. If we die, that ashram will dry up and the lives of thousands of children will be in danger.”

“What do you want me to do? Tell me.”

Mother said coolly, “We are not worried about your one life. Even if your life is gone, it does not matter. If you want those thousands of children to live, you cannot leave this place.”

Prutvi was shocked. He looked at his mother’s face. Then he looked at his uncle's face.

Daga looked at Prutvi’s mother. “Leave him alone. Don’t force him. As long as I am alive, I will save the ashram.”

Mother approached him. “You have lost your brother and both of your legs. You are helpless now. That fellow will not leave us now. He will definitely attack us. Death is guaranteed. If you die, the ashram is as good as finished. This boy has to remain here. He has to become Daga. He has to become the backbone of the ashram.”

Prutvi became serious. “Give me 24 hours time. I will think about it.”

“As you wish.”
